Pune, August 16, 2023: Pune Metro marked a new milestone on Independence Day, achieving its highest ever daily ridership. According to metro officials, a remarkable total of 1,23,720 passengers utilized the Pune Metro service on August 15. This record-breaking figure reflects the growing popularity and demand for the metro system since its launch last year.
The surge in ridership was distributed across both major routes of the Pune Metro. A total of 61,834 passengers traveled on the Pimpri Chinchwad – Civil Court Metro Station route, while an additional 61,886 passengers utilized the Ruby Hall Clinic – Vanaz Metro Station route. This substantial ridership count on Independence Day surpassed the previous record set on August 6, when 96,498 passengers used the service.
The recent expansion of the Pune Metro network played a pivotal role in accommodating the increased ridership. During his recent visit to the city, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the extended route, adding new stations to the system. The inaugurated stations included Ruby Hall Clinic to Civil Court Station and Phygewadi to Civil Court Metro Station routes.
The growing popularity of the Pune Metro is a testament to the city’s enthusiasm for efficient and convenient public transportation.
