GJEPC’s ‘Jewels UnBounded’ Showcases India’s Jewelry Heritage in Hong Kong

The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council of India (GJEPC) recently illuminated the world of Indian fine jewelry in Hong Kong through a captivating runway show titled ‘Jewels UnBounded.’ This spectacular event garnered support from the Consulate General of India in Hong Kong and the Department of Commerce, Government of India. The show featured the GJEPC’s esteemed brand ambassador, Manushi Chillar, gracefully adorning exquisite diamond jewelry as she graced the runway.

Celebrating India’s Rich Jewelry Heritage: ‘Jewels UnBounded’ was a vibrant celebration of India’s opulent jewelry legacy, showcasing its rich assortment of gemstones, jewelry, and textiles to discerning buyers from across Asia. This illustrious event, as announced by the GJEPC in a press release, aimed to immerse attendees in the allure of Indian craftsmanship. It served as a perfect complement to the September Hong Kong Jewellery and Gem Fair.

Gemstones and Jewelry: Storehouses of Value and Memories: India’s Ambassador for the People’s Republic of China, Pradeep Kumar Rawat, emphasized the unique value of gemstones and jewelry, describing them as remarkable storehouses of both financial value and cherished memories. He highlighted the enduring significance of these treasures, which often symbolize family legacies and profound relationships. Mr. Rawat encouraged attendees to explore the profound cultural and historical connections that India shares with these precious gemstones and jewelry.

Distinguished Guests and India-Hong Kong Trade:
The event welcomed esteemed guests, including Satwant Khanalia, the Consulate General of India in Hong Kong, and Kent Wong, the Managing Director of Chow Tai Fook, among others. The former Miss World, Manushi Chillar, graced the occasion by modeling exquisite jewelry, echoing the GJEPC’s message that if jewelry can be crafted anywhere in the world, it can undoubtedly be made in India.

GJEPC Chairman’s Insights:
Vipul Shah, Chairman of the GJEPC, shed light on the robust trade ties between India and Hong Kong in the realm of gems and jewelry. He highlighted the impressive total trade value of $15.56 billion in 2022, with Hong Kong emerging as India’s second-largest export destination, accounting for $8.63 billion during the same period. Shah also underscored the pivotal role of cut and polished diamonds, valued at $5.15 billion, in this flourishing trade relationship. Moreover, he emphasized the growing prominence of silver jewelry, gold jewelry, colored gemstones, and polished lab-grown diamonds in this thriving market.


‘Jewels UnBounded’ was a splendid showcase of India’s exceptional jewelry craftsmanship and its profound cultural significance. It reaffirmed India’s position as a global jewelry hub, offering a wide spectrum of exquisite designs and precious gemstones.
