Formula E and Sony Extend Broadcast Deal, Securing India’s Racing Future

Sony Pictures Networks India Commits to Three More Years of Live Formula E Coverage

Formula E, the premier electric racing championship, has solidified its presence in India through a renewed media partnership with Sony Pictures Networks India. This extended collaboration ensures that Formula E races will continue to captivate Indian audiences across television and digital platforms until at least 2027.

Under this new agreement, all Formula E races will be broadcasted live on Sony’s channels and streamed on Sony LIV, the network’s OTT platform. This comprehensive coverage encompasses not only the races but also practice and qualifying sessions, providing fans with unparalleled access to the championship’s thrilling action.

Despite the setback of the 2024 Hyderabad E-Prix’s cancellation earlier this year, Formula E reaffirms India’s significance as a key market. With longstanding participation from Indian team Mahindra Racing and the debut of local talent Jehan Daruvala with Maserati, the championship’s connection to India continues to deepen.

Aarti Dabas, Chief Media Officer of Formula E, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting India’s vibrant sports community and the opportunity for growth. The collaboration promises to showcase Formula E’s excitement to Indian fans while spotlighting homegrown talents like Daruvala and Mahindra Racing.

In addition to live race coverage, Sony will also broadcast Formula E’s ‘Unplugged’ series, offering viewers an exclusive behind-the-scenes glimpse into the championship’s drama both on and off the track, akin to Netflix’s popular ‘Drive to Survive’ docu-series.

The upcoming 2024 Misano E-Prix, set to take place at Italy’s Misano circuit, marks another milestone for Formula E as it expands its global footprint. Sony Sports channels and Sony LIV will provide live streaming of both races on April 13 and 14, further enhancing the accessibility of Formula E to audiences worldwide.
