Savitribai Phule Pune University Expands Cultural Horizons with Persian Language Course

The Department of History at Savitribai Phule Pune University has taken a significant step towards promoting cultural understanding and linguistic diversity by launching the ‘Basic Course in Farsi (Persian) Language.’ Persian, known as Farsi in Iran, Dari in Afghanistan, and Tajik in Tajikistan, holds considerable importance in the Middle East and Central Asia.

As the course aims to facilitate a foundational understanding of the Farsi language, prospective students keen on exploring Persian culture and linguistics are invited to apply. The application deadline is December 9 at 3 pm, with application forms available at the department office.

Scheduled to commence on December 10, the 50-hour course requires a 12th pass qualification for enrollment. A nominal course fee of Rs.3000 per student has been set, and applicants are encouraged to submit their applications promptly to secure a spot in the program.

Dr. Shraddha Kumbhojkar, the Head of the History Department, highlighted that classes will be conducted every Sunday from 9 am to 12 pm. To accommodate a diverse group of learners, language instruction will be provided in both Marathi and English.
