Maharashtra Education Department Eases Class 11 Admission Requirements for Pune Students, Offers Relief for Missing Documents

une, 28th June 2023: The Maharashtra Education Department has come to the rescue of students and parents in Pune who have been struggling with the admission process for Class 11. In a bid to provide relief to those who lack the necessary income proof or EWS certificate, the department has taken steps to ease the document requirements.

With the completion of the first round of admissions, the ongoing second round now allows students to register their preferences for colleges. However, certain colleges have been denying admission to students selected in the first round due to the absence of a non-creamy layer certificate, which is required to confirm their eligibility for reservation.

In response to this issue, the education department has intervened during the final stage of the admission process. On June 22, an order was issued stating that students can be admitted by submitting an application receipt and a guarantee letter, granting them a three-month extension to provide the non-creamy layer certificate.

Despite these measures, some colleges have continued to demand additional documents, causing further obstacles for students. In light of this, the Department of Education has issued a renewed directive, instructing the Department of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education to ensure that students are not hindered due to the lack of specific documents.

As a result, students without income proof and the non-creamy layer certificate will now be admitted based on the application receipt and a guarantee letter. The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education has been instructed to allow economically weaker section (EWS) students to fill an undertaking form, granting them a three-month period to submit the necessary certificates.

These measures have been implemented to address the difficulties faced by EWS students during the online admission process for the academic year 2023-24. The education department is actively working towards streamlining the procedure for obtaining income proofs, ensuring that eligible students are not disadvantaged during the admissions process.
