IPS Archit Chandak: From IIT Topper to Inspiring Deputy Commissioner of Police

New Delhi, 12th July 2023: The UPSC civil services examination is known for its rigorous nature and high level of difficulty. Those who are able to conquer this exam and secure top positions become a source of inspiration for millions of aspiring candidates. IPS Archit Chandak is one such remarkable individual who has inspired numerous individuals with his achievements.

Archit hails from Shankar Nagar, Nagpur in Maharashtra and is the beloved son of Virendra and Chhaya Chandak. His parents hold directorial positions at Nagpur Techno Marketing Pvt. Ltd. located in MIDC Hingna. Archit completed his schooling at Bhavan’s BP Vidya Mandir. He went on to crack the JEE examination in 2012, securing admission into IIT Delhi where he emerged as the city topper. He pursued a degree in mechanical engineering at the college. During his time in college, Archit made a conscious decision to work for the government and serve his country.

While completing his internship, Archit received a job offer worth Rs 35 lakh from a Japanese company. However, he declined the offer, choosing instead to dedicate himself to preparing for the UPSC civil services examination. His preparation journey began in 2016 after obtaining his Bachelor’s degree.

In 2018, Archit appeared for the UPSC examination for the first time and achieved an impressive All-India Rank (AIR) of 184 on his initial attempt. He started his career as the station house officer at Bazarpeth police station in Bhusawal, Maharashtra. Currently, he holds the esteemed position of deputy commissioner of police (DCP) in Nagpur.

Archit firmly believes in maintaining an organized study structure and emphasizes the importance of revisions. He meticulously prepared for the examination by systematically covering different subjects. According to him, commitment to one’s goals leads to consistent learning of all concepts and topics, without succumbing to dissatisfaction or distress. Archit also stresses the significance of utilizing the best study materials available, mastering each subject and concept, and regularly evaluating one’s progress.

In addition to his professional endeavors, IPS Archit Chandak enjoys playing chess and boasts an impressive FIDE rating of 1,820. He also maintains an active lifestyle and has participated in the challenging 42-kilometer Mumbai Marathon. Archit frequently shares updates about his daily activities on social media, where he has amassed a following of 92.2K on Instagram. Notably, Archit is married to IAS Saumya Sharma, his classmate from the UPSC, who currently serves as the CEO of Zilla Parishad Nagpur.
