Unveiling the Motive: Hinjawadi Police Dive Deeper into Techie Murder Mystery

Hinjawadi : A chilling incident unfolded on Saturday night in Hinjawadi, Pune, as 26-year-old Infosys techie Vandana Dwivedi was shot dead inside a hotel room. The alleged perpetrator, identified as Rishabh Nigam, was apprehended by Navi Mumbai police during a Nakabandi operation the following day.

Vandana Dwivedi, originally from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, had been working at Infosys in Rajiv Gandhi IT Park for the past two years. The tragic incident occurred in a room at OYO Townhouse around 9:45 pm on January 27. Although the CCTV footage captured Nigam leaving the room, the police were only informed the next day.

Nigam, who hails from the same locality in Lucknow as Vandana, confessed to the crime during preliminary interrogation by Navi Mumbai Police. Both had known each other from their time in Lucknow before Vandana moved to Pune for work. Nigam, a real estate agent, was arrested in a disturbed state of mind, according to reliable sources.

Hinjawadi police, who brought Nigam from Navi Mumbai, are continuing their investigation. DCP (Zone 2) Bapu Bangar stated, “Our investigation is ongoing. The motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained. We are also probing how he managed to get the pistol and where he has hidden it after the crime.”

As the community grapples with shock and grief, the Pune police are determined to unravel the mysteries surrounding Vandana Dwivedi’s tragic demise.
