Sword Used to Cut Birthday Cake: Pune Police Arrest Four Individuals, Including Two Minors

A birthday celebration in Pune took a dangerous turn when a group of youths used a sword to cut a cake in a public place. Pune police have taken action against four individuals, including two minors, for their involvement in the incident.

The incident occurred in Dhankawadi area around 10:30 pm on Wednesday. A gathering of over 20 youths had assembled on a road in the area to celebrate the birthday of a 19-year-old local resident. To mark the occasion, the birthday boy used a sword to cut the cake, a moment that was captured on video.

Upon receiving a complaint about the incident, the Sahakarnagar police station initiated an investigation. Inspector Savlaram Salgaonkar, in-charge of the police station, stated that four youths, all below the age of 20, were booked for their role in handling the sword during the celebration. Two of the four individuals are minors. The police have charged them under the provisions of the Arms Act and the Bombay Police Act.

The circulation of videos and images depicting the celebration on various social media platforms caught the attention of the authorities. Over the past two years, the Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad police have made multiple arrests related to the display of sharp weapons, such as swords, machetes, and sickles, on social media. Additionally, there have been instances of individuals brandishing these weapons during public gatherings and celebrations.

Law enforcement officials have emphasized that such acts are not only illegal but also contribute to an atmosphere of fear and intimidation within the local community. These incidents often arise from rivalries between different groups, with individuals seeking to establish dominance in a particular area.

By taking swift action against those involved in this incident, the Pune police are sending a strong message that such behavior will not be tolerated. The safety and well-being of the community remain a top priority, and steps will be taken to maintain law and order.

As celebrations and gatherings continue to take place, it is essential for individuals to remember their responsibility to uphold the law and ensure the safety of themselves and others. The use of dangerous weapons in public spaces poses a significant risk and can have severe consequences.

Authorities are urging citizens to report any instances of such behavior and cooperate with the police to maintain a peaceful and secure environment for all. By working together, the community can help deter such acts and foster a culture of respect, safety, and harmony.
