Stone-Throwing Incident Leaves School Bus Attendant Injured in Pune

Hadapsar, 19th January 2024: A distressing incident unfolded on Wednesday morning as a private school bus attendant sustained injuries when a stone, thrown from the Kirloskar Pneumatic rail overbridge in Ramtekdi, struck her left hand. The incident, occurring at around 7:10 am, also caused damage to the left portion of the bus’s windscreen. Notably, the bus was without any students at the time of the incident.

Details of the Incident:

The bus, on its way from Amanora Township to Kondhwa to pick up 34 students, encountered the stone-throwing incident. The alleged culprit, Yogesh Kamble, a 32-year-old unemployed resident of the Vaiduwadi slum, not only targeted the bus but also threw a stone at a woman beneath the bridge simultaneously. Quick action from the woman’s family led to Kamble’s apprehension, and he was handed over to the Hadapsar police.

Charges against Kamble include a rash and negligent act endangering human life, and mischief causing damage. Following his arrest, a city court has remanded him to judicial custody. This incident comes two weeks after a similar stone-pelting event at the same location, raising concerns about the safety of pedestrians and vehicles passing through the area.

Senior Inspector Ravindra Shelke of the Hadapsar police stated, “We are investigating if the same man was involved in another stone-pelting incident at the same bridge on January 4 this year.” The earlier incident resulted in severe injuries to a woman graphic designer, and the suspect’s involvement in damaging a car in December 2023 is also under verification.
