Pune: Sinhagad Road Police Register Rs 17.54 Lakh Fraud Case Involving Car Loan Scam

Pune: The Sinhagad Road Police have registered a case of fraud against one person for cheating the Bharati Sahakari Bank of Vadgaon Dhayari by providing them forged documents for the purchase of a car. The accused defrauded the bank to the tune of Rs 17,54,000 from May 17, 2023, to May 17, 2024.

In this regard, bank manager Vijay Bhagwat Kadam (68) lodged a complaint against Chaitanya Shrikant Naik, a resident of Tukainagar Ganesh Mandir, Sinhagad Road, Vadgaon Budruk, Pune, at Sinhagad Road Police Station on Friday, May 17.

According to the police complaint, the accused, Chaitanya Naik, opened a bank account in the name of Sky Moto Automobiles Private Limited Company in the ICICI company situated in the Bund Garden area to purchase a new Jeep Compass Sport Model. For this, he took a loan of Rs 17,54,616 from the Vadgaon branch of Bharti Sahakari Bank.

The plaintiff complained that the accused, Chaitanya Naik, embezzled the money given by the bank without buying the vehicle with it. He also showcased a forged document from the Maharashtra government for the four-wheeler vehicle number MH 12 KT 1975 to the bank. Similarly, he also cheated the Regional Transport Department of Pune along with Bharti Sahakari Bank on the basis of these documents.

Accordingly, Sinhagad Road Police booked him under IPC 406, 420, 465, 467, 468, and 471. The police are conducting further investigation into the case.
