Pune:

The Local Crime Branch (LCB) of the rural police force has uncovered a heinous murder case, shedding light on the gruesome killing of a man identified as Krishna Gokul Vighne (32) from Beed. The victim’s own kin, including his brother Ajinath Gokul Vighne (26), uncle Pandurang Arjun Vighne (50), and partner Ganesh Prabhakar Nagargoje (29), have been apprehended in connection with the crime.

The tragic incident began with the discovery of an unidentified body bound and dumped in the Ghodnadi river basin in the Pacharne Mala area of Shirur taluka on January 31. Initially shrouded in mystery, the case gained momentum as investigators meticulously combed through CCTV footage, ultimately identifying the deceased as Krishna Vighne.

Unravelling the layers of the sinister plot, police honed in on Krishna’s tumultuous familial relations and his addiction to alcohol, which had sparked heated disputes over land sales within the family. Armed with this crucial insight, authorities swiftly detained Krishna’s brother, uncle, and accomplice.

Upon interrogation, the chilling details of the murder plot emerged. In a bid to silence Krishna’s relentless demands to sell their ancestral land, the accused orchestrated a nefarious plan for Krishna’s murder. They bring Krishna to Shirur in a tempo, only to immobilise him, bind his hands and feet, and callously cast him into the river.

Under the leadership of Superintendent of Police Pankaj Deshmukh and Additional Superintendent Ramesh Chopde, a dedicated team of law enforcement officers spearheaded by Police Inspector Avinash Shilimkar of the Crime Investigation Department and Police Inspector Jyotiram Gunjwate of Shirur Police Station meticulously pieced together the evidence, culminating in the apprehension of the perpetrators.
