Pune: A policeman hit a person with an iron rod and injured him at around 12.30 pm on Wednesday in Khadakmal Ali. The cop questioned the victim’s presence at the Police Line, the police quarters. A case has been registered against the policeman at the Khadak Police Station.
According to the details, Somnath Rajaram Shedge lodged a complaint at the police station in this regard. Policeman Mangesh Dilip Kamble, a resident of Swargate Police Line, has been booked under sections 324, 504, 427 of the IPC.
The complainant stays near the police quarters. He had gone to meet his friend to Katraj on Tuesday. The complainant’s friend has lost his wife. After parking his two-wheeler at the Police Line, the complainant travelled in his four-wheeler to Katraj. On his return, the complainant and his friend visited the Police Line to take the motorbike parked there.
Accused Mangesh Kamble approached them and sought to know their identity. The complainant told him that he was merely taking his bike, which was parked there. Kamble told them to go away and questioned their presence. He also abused and hit the complainant with a stainless steel plate in his face. The complainant was injured and tried to retaliate but Kamble went to his quarter and brought an iron rod, with which he hit the complainant. Kamble told the complainant that he was a policeman and hit on his head and back and injured the complainant, stated the FIR.
The police are investigating further.
