Pune Police Cracks Down on Sharad Mohol Murder Case: Arrest Made Following Audio Clip Investigation

Pune: The Crime Branch of Pune Police has made a crucial arrest in the Sharad Mohol murder case, based on audio clip examinations. Out of a staggering 19,827 audio clips associated with the case, the police meticulously scrutinised 10,500 clips, identifying six as suspicious. This analysis of audio clips has led to the apprehension of Abhijeet Arun Mankar (31), a resident of Dattawadi.

The swift action by the Crime Branch comes in the wake of the murder of Sharad Mohol, which sent shockwaves across the city. Alongside Mankar’s arrest, a plethora of individuals, including Sahil alias Munna Santosh Polekar, Namdev Mahipati Kangude, Amit alias Amar Maruti Kangude, Chandrakant Shahu Shelke, Vinayak Santosh Gavankar, and several others have been nabbed and booked under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).

Sources within the Crime Branch revealed that within a mere 24 hours of the initial murder, the perpetrators and their associates were apprehended. The subsequent investigation unveiled a trove of 19,827 audio clips, shedding light on various aspects of the crime. From these, 6 clips emerged as potential leads, prompting further scrutiny.

The arrest of Abhijit Arun Mankar follows a trail of evidence uncovered from conversations between Sahil alias Munna Santosh Polekar and Namdev Mahipati Kangude, where Mankar’s name prominently featured. Consequently, Mankar was taken into custody on Tuesday evening.

An intensive investigation into Mankar’s involvement has been launched by the authorities, led by Crime Branch DCP Amol Zende, ACP Sunil Tambe, and ACP Satish Govekar.
