Pune: Police commissioner takes action against Rahul Shendge and his 10 accomplices under MCOCA for spreading terror in Timber Market area

PUNE: The police commissioner has taken action against Rahul Shendge who assaulted two persons with a sharp weapon after accusing them of assaulting his brother and spreading terror in Timber Market area and his 10 accomplices under MCOCA. CP Ritesh Kumar has so far taken action against 54 organised criminal gangs under MCOCA.

When the complainant and his friend were talking near an office in the Timber Market, gang leader Rahul Shedge and his nine accomplices arrived there on motorcycles and asked him why he had assaulted Shedge’s brother. Rahul Shedge and his accomplices abused the complainant and his friend and brutally assaulted them with sharp weapons. They brandished sickles in the air to terrorise local residents. An FIR had been registered at the Khadak police station under sections 307, 323, 504, 143, 147, 148, 149 of the IPC, Arm Act, Maharashtra Police Act and Criminal Law Amendment Act against the accused. The incident took place on August 5.

While investigating a case, the police arrested Rahul Dattu Shendge (21), Karan alias Thombya Bhanudas Aaglave (21), Lakhan Bhanudas Aaglave (22), Shankar Anna Kongadi (25), Rohan Dattu Shendge (24), all residents of CP Lohia Nagar, Mahesh Indrajeet Aaglave (24), a resident of Market Yard, Vishal alias Lalya alias Laxman Bharat Pardhe (21), a resident of Ganj Peth. A minor boy and three accused are absconding.
Gang leader Rahul Shendge is a criminal on police record. He formed a gang of criminals and has carried out serious crimes like robbery, dacoity, issuing threats, attempted murder, causing injuries, gathering of mob, harbouring sharp weapons. Preventive action had been taken against them but they have repeatedly committed such crimes.

Sr PI Sunil Mane submitted a proposal about including sections 3 (1)(ii), 3(2), 3(4) of MCOCA in the FIR registered against criminals at the Khadak police station to Addl CP Pravin Kumar Patil through DCP Sandeep Singh Gill. The proposal was checked by the addl CP and gave his approval. ACP Ashok Dhumal is carrying out further investigation.

The police commissioner has so far taken action against 54 organised criminal gangs and similar action will be taken in the future.

The action was taken under the guidance of CP Ritesh Kumar, Joint CP Sandip Karnik, Addl CP Pravin Kumar Patil, DCP Sandip Singh Gill and ACP Ashok Dhumal by senior PI Sunil Mane, PI Sampatrao Raut, API Rakesh Jadhav, PSI Akash Vite, PSI Atul Bankar, policemen Mahesh Pawar, Nitin Jadhav and Swapnil Bandal.
