PUNE: A PMPML bus going to Kothrud Depot from Chandni Chowk for a CNG refill was involved in an accident. Since the driver could not apply the brake, the bus went into a ditch. The bus belongs to a contractor and the incident took place at 3 am. The driver did not suffer any injuries but the bus was severely damaged.’
Today morning, the bus was proceeding towards Kothrud and skidded on a slope and rammed into a JCB. The bus was of Balewadi depot. It was proceeding towards Kothrud Depot via Chandni Chowk for a CNG refill. However, it met with an accident.
Meanwhile, this incident has highlighted the fact that PMPML buses are increasingly getting involved in accidents. A few days ago, an incident had been reported where the driver of a PMPML bus had endangered the lives of passengers by driving in a drunken stupor. The driver had taken the bus in the opposite direction near Farate Chowk. A major accident had been averted because of the presence of mind shown by two youths. This has again raised questions about the safety parameters of PMPML buses.
