Pune: One Individual Faces Legal Action Following Harassment and Defamation Charges

Molestation Case

Pune: A complaint has been registered against one man for assaulting a woman and demanding physical pleasure from the woman. The plaintiff further complained that the accused also defamed her by posting obscene photos of her on Facebook and continuously harassed her by demanding money from her. This incident took place between May 7 and May 18 in the Ambegaon Plateau area.

In this regard, a 45-year-old woman lodged a complaint against the accused at Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station on Sunday, May 19. The accused has been identified as Mahadev Sitaram Suravase, a resident of Old Bazar, Beed.

As per the complaint filed by the victim, the accused was constantly harassing her by calling and texting her. On May 7, when she went to buy some vegetables, the accused secretly chased her. The accused brazenly held the plaintiff’s hair and asked her the reason for not receiving his phone calls. Further, the accused demanded physical pleasure from her.

When the woman refused him, the enraged accused assaulted her with his hands and started taking off her clothes, causing her embarrassment. Shockingly, after that, the accused morphed one of the photos of the plaintiff and posted it on the social media platform to defame her by writing an obscene message below it.

The accused did not stop here, as he went as far as demanding money from her for his personal expenses. When the woman refused to give him money, the accused threatened to kill her. Frustrated by the continuous harassment, the victim woman filed a complaint against the accused at Bharti Vidyapeeth Police Station. Accordingly, police registered a case against him under IPC 354, 354(a), 354(b), 354(d), 323, 506, and 385, along with the IT Act.

Further investigation is being conducted by Police Inspector (Crime) Sharad Zine.
