Pune Municipal Corporation Staff Caught Accepting Bribe of Rs 1 Lakh from Retired Employee

Shivajinagar, 30th June 2023: In a significant development, officials from the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) have apprehended an employee of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) for accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh. The bribe was being taken in exchange for facilitating the processing of earned leave encashment for a retired staff member.

The accused individual, identified as Pravin Dattatray Pasalkar, a class IV employee of PMC, has been charged under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. An FIR has been lodged at Shivajinagar police station to initiate legal proceedings in this matter.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau launched an investigation based on the complaint lodged by the retired supervisor (Mukadam) from the Health Department. It was alleged that Pasalkar had demanded a bribe of Rs 1 lakh to expedite the bill processing for encashing the complainant’s earned leave balance.

During the course of the investigation, substantial evidence was gathered, establishing Pasalkar’s involvement in the bribery incident. He was caught red-handed accepting the bribe within the premises of the Pune Municipal Corporation. The case is now being further investigated by Police Inspector Shriram Shinde.

The successful operation was conducted under the guidance and supervision of Superintendent of Police (ACB) Amol Tambe, Additional SP Sheetal Janve, and DySP Nitin Jadhav. Their commitment to eradicating corruption and upholding the law has ensured that this case was promptly addressed.

Instances of corruption undermine the trust and integrity of public institutions. The action taken by the Anti-Corruption Bureau sends a strong message that such acts will not be tolerated, and individuals involved in corrupt practices will be held accountable.
