Pune: The shocking incident of killing one’s own wife resurfaced in the Kesnand area, where the accused husband attempted to kill his own wife by forcing her to drink a poisonous rat-killing liquid. This disturbing incident took place on February 18, around 8 a.m., in the limits of Kesnand village. In this case, the Lonikand police have registered a case against the husband, mother and father-in-laws, brother and sister-in-laws, and husband’s uncle and arrested the husband.
A 23-year-old married woman filed a complaint regarding it at Lonikand police station on Monday, February 19. Accordingly, police booked Ankush Giri, Saraswati Ankush Giri, Ankush Rambhau Giri, Aditya Ankush Giri, Sujata Pralhad Bharti, and Shivaji Bharti under IPC 307, 328, 323, 504, 506, and 34 and apprehended them.
The plaintiff woman was married to the accused, Hanumant Giri, in September 2018. After the marriage, when the plaintiff was staying in Beed, in her in-laws’s house, the accused were harassing her physically and mentally. The plaintiff complained that the accused were torturing her over their alleged suspicion of her affair with some other man.
The accused were constantly beating the plaintiff and subjecting her to verbal abuse. In the latest instance of such an incident, the plaintiff was once again assaulted by her in-laws on Sunday. On Sunday morning, the accused in-laws forcibly grabbed the woman’s hands and feet and attempted to kill her by forcing her to drink poisonous rat-killing liquid.
After the complaint was filed by the plaintiff woman, the police arrested the accused husband and initiated further investigation into the matter under the head of Assistant Police Inspector Bhalerao.
