Mumbai-Ice-Cream-Case

Pune / Indapur: Production has been suspended at the Fortune Dairy in Indapur after a finger part was found in an ice cream cone of Yummo brand sold to a young doctor in Malad, Mumbai recently. The batch number purportedly indicated that the cone was manufactured at the Fortune Dairy. However, the unit has not been sealed.

Ghaziabad-based Yummo buys ice cream from the third party manufacturers, namely – Laxmi Dairy, Jaipur and Fortune Dairy at Loni Devkar in Indapur taluka.

Fortune Dairy Partner and Director Sachin Jadhav said, “We collect around 2.5 lakh litres of milk daily. We manufacture milk powder and butter. We were supplying ice cream to Yummo from September 16, 2023. The company also procures ice cream from other manufacturers. A case was registered against the company on June 12, 2024.”

“Yummo is an ice cream brand. Various manufacturers supply ice cream to them. Valco Industries in Hadapsar also supplies ice cream to them. We have taken some samples from their unit. Some other units, including the one from Indapur, are also there. They have been authorised to produce ice cream by the FSSAI.”
