Pune: The Vishrambaug police have registered a case of fraud against the former chairman, treasurer, and secretary of Ninad Nagari Sahakari Patasanstha. The accused allegedly facilitated a loan scam amounting to a staggering 77 lakhs, using forged signatures as guarantors, leaving the credit institution in financial turmoil.

The complaint was lodged by Tanaji Dinkar More (42) of Tukainagar, Vadgaon Budruk, Pune, on Thursday at the Vishrambaug police station. The accused individuals identified are Mayuresh Uday Joshi (38) and Uday Joshi (65) of Suvarnanagari Society, Anandnagar, Sinhagad Road, Pune, the Union’s then president; Ramalinga Sivagane (66) of Balajinagar, Dhankawadi, the treasurer; and Ashok Kulkarni (72) of Suncity Sinhagad Road, Pune, the secretary. The charges filed include IPC 409, 420, 467, 468, 471, and 34.

According to the police investigation, Mayuresh Joshi, employed by Shriram Gas Agency, orchestrated the fraudulent loan. Allegedly, Joshi forged the signatures of the plaintiff and an unidentified woman as guarantors without their knowledge. The accused trio then colluded to approve a loan of Rs 77 lakhs for Joshi, who failed to repay the substantial amount.

The accused’s modus operandi involved concealing crucial information about the loan from the plaintiff and the woman, leading to a deliberate default on repayment. Assistant Police Inspector Nanekar is spearheading the ongoing investigation into the case.
