Pune: A Mumbai-based resident called a woman and asked her to pay Rs 5 lakh in a fake bank loan case. The accused further threatened the concerned woman with morphing her photos and circulating them on social media platforms. This incident took place on March 6 at around 3 p.m. in Pune’s Alandi village.

In this regard, the woman lodged a police complaint against one individual at the Dighi Police Station on Thursday, March 15. The accused has been identified as Manu Swami Rogerio, alias Michael. Michael is a resident of Byculla, Mumbai.

As per the police complaint, a few days ago, relatives of the plaintiff received one phone call from an unknown number in which one individual wrongly informed them about the outstanding loan of the plaintiff. He further slandered the plaintiff and her brother, saying they were insolvent.

After that, relatives of the plaintiff confronted the issue with the plaintiff, who had no idea about it. After that, when the plaintiff’s brother called on that number, the person over there identified himself as Michael and said that there was a bank loan due against him and his sister’s name.

When the plaintiff’s brother asked him for details about the bank name and the amount of the loan, the bewildered person angrily threatened them to pay Rs 5 lakh to him. He said that if they did not act according to him, he would defame her by circulating morphed photos of him and his sisters on social media.

After that, the plaintiff lodged a police complaint against the accused. Dighi Police took a stringent note of the complaint and booked the accused under IPC 385, 500, and 34. Further investigation is being conducted by police sub-inspector Ranware.
