Pune: Absconding accused in attempt to murder case nabbed

Pune: A case of attempt to murder was registered against a youth for threatening to kill a person and then attacking him with a sickle. The incident took place in the Mundhwa area two months ago.

Following the registration of a case at the Mundhwa Police Station, the accused absconded. He was arrested in Uruli Kanchan on Thursday.

The accused has been identified as Anup Dhage (23), a resident of Keshav Nagar. The incident took place in front of Janseva Bank branch in Mundhwa between 5 pm and 8 pm on November 13, 2023.

Accused Dhage was on the run by concealing his identity after the day of crime. The officers and personnel of Mundhwa Police Station’s Investigation Squad were patrolling within their jurisdiction. Policeman Mahesh Pathak received a tip-off that Dhage would come to Uruli Kanchan. The squad laid a trap at the PMPML bus stop in Uruli Kanchan and nabbed him.

The action was taken under the guidance of Commissioner of Police (CP) Retesh Kumaarr, Jt CP Ramnath Pokale, Addl CP Ranjan Kumar Sharma, DCP A Raja and ACP Ashwini Rakh. The squad comprising Sr PI Mahesh Bolkotagi, PI Sangeeta Rokade, API Sandeep Jore, police personnel Dinesh Rane, Santosh Kale, Dinesh Bhandurge, Santosh Jagtap, Mahesh Pathak, Zurange, Swapnil Raskar, Hemant Perne and Sachin Patil took the action.
