Pimpri: A woman has been booked for cheating the government and the heirs of land owners of Rs 3.75 crore by preparing a fake power of attorney (PoA) and registering the land document in her husband’s name.

The incident took place between September 27, 2006 and September 29, 2006 at the Joint Sub Registrar Office, Haveli number 5.

Anita Rajendrakumar Kanse, Joint Sub Registrar Office, Haveli number 5, lodged a complaint at the Chinchwad Police Station on Friday (June 14). The accused has been identified as Manisha Kashyap Wadhwa, a resident of Mumbai. Wadhwa has been booked under sections 450, 465, 467, 468, 471 of the IPC, along with section 82 of the Registration Act, 1908.

According to the police, Maheshwari and Company owns 90 guntha land at Pimpri Waghere. The land is owned by the authorised partners of the company, namely – Savitri Mohandas Wadhwa, Lilaram Hidomal Kriplani, Hariram Mohandas Wadhwa and Hardasmal N Devnani. Lilaram Kriplani passed away in 1981. Accused Manisha Kashyap Wadhwa prepared a fake PoA in her name with the help of the Late Kriplani.

On the basis of the PoA, she registered the document of 22.50-guntha land out of the 90 guntha in the name of her husband Kashyap Hariram Wadhwa, who died in 2012. Thus, she cheated the government and the partners of the company of Rs 46.90 lakh. The current value of the land is Rs 3,83,55,500. The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has booked Manisha Wadhwa and is investigating the matter.
