Phoenix Mall Heist: Pune Authorities Crack the Case, Deliver Justice

In a commendable display of efficiency, the Pune Airport Police have successfully solved a theft case related to an incident at Phoenix Mall, Vimannagar. The stolen purse, containing gold ornaments valued at ₹3,55,000, was reported missing by a shopper on January 1. The swift and meticulous investigation led to the arrest of the alleged thief, identified as Deepak Devidas Papale (35), residing in the Yerawada area.

The complainant, who had been shopping at a store within Phoenix Mall, Vimannagar, reported the theft of her mother-in-law’s purse to the Airport Police. The purse, carrying gold ornaments of significant value, prompted the initiation of a thorough investigation.

Under the guidance of Senior Inspector Anandrao Khobare and the supervision of the detection branch (DB), constables Avinash Shewale and Nana Karche played a crucial role in unraveling the case. Following a lead, the police team apprehended the alleged thief, Deepak Devidas Papale, on Airport Road at Sanjay Park.

The accused confessed to the crime, leading to the recovery of the stolen gold ornaments. A case under IPC Section 380 (theft in a building, tent, or vessel) was registered at the Pune Airport Police Station.
