Kondhwa Police Busts Gang Targeting Yemeni Nationals in Pune; 600 CCTVs Scanned for Breakthrough

In a major breakthrough, the Kondhwa Police have successfully apprehended four individuals responsible for a series of robberies targeting Yemeni nationals seeking medical treatment in Pune. The arrests followed an extensive investigation that involved scanning over 600 CCTV cameras along the Pune-Daman route, leading to the capture of the culprits.

Yemeni citizens, often drawn to Pune for medical purposes, have become easy targets for criminals in the Kondhwa area due to language barriers and distinctive attire. The recent victims, Saleh Othman Ahmed and Abdul Fattah Saleh Mohsen, fell prey to fraudulent encounters with individuals posing as police officers, resulting in significant financial losses.

In response to these incidents, the Kondhwa Police, under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Santosh Sonwane and Police Inspector Mansingh Patil, initiated a thorough investigation. The meticulous examination of CCTV footage spanning a 10-hour period enabled the tracking of suspects’ movements along various routes, ultimately leading to their location in Daman.

The accused individuals—identified as Sikandar Ali Khan, Karim Feroze Khan, Irfan Hussain Hashmi, and Mehboob Abdul Hamdi Khan—were apprehended, and the police successfully seized substantial evidence, including stolen currency and the vehicle used in the crimes.

The operation, conducted with the guidance of Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar and Additional Commissioner of Police Manoj Patil, underscores the dedication and collaborative efforts of law enforcement officials in ensuring the safety of residents and visitors alike.
