Four of a gang helping accused in getting bail arrested; fake papers seized

Nashik: Four members of a gang were arrested in Nashik on Wednesday for helping accused get bail in various offences. The Nashik police nabbed the accused when they were conducting combing operations at hotels and lodges in the backdrop of the Lok Sabha elections in Nashik and the district to curb any untoward incident.

The gang used to arrange fake guarantors for securing bail. The Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of Nashik Road Police Station arrested the accused. A case has been registered in this regard.

The accused have been identified as Avdesh Narayan Ramadhar Upadhyaya (41), a resident of Adgaon, Nitin Natha Mahale (38), Arun Panjabrao Garud (45), Sachin Kailas Shirsath, all residents of Nashik Road.

The ATS squad was inspecting Sai Lodge near Nashik Road Railway Station, where details about four persons staying in a room were sought. The police suspected the documents they provided for the identification purpose. After sustained interrogation and a thorough check of their documents and valuables revealed the racket.

Upadhyaya had three different Aadhar cards in his name and other fake documents while three others were carrying fake ration cards and fake stamps of the revenue department. After an inquiry, it was found that the accused provided bogus guarantors in various courts in the district by getting fake documents from Rakesh Balu Jadhav, Pramod Pralhad Narvekar, David Lamuvel Gaikwad.

The action was taken under the guidance of Commissioner of Police (CP) Sandeep Karnik, DCP Monika Raut, ACP Dr Sachin Bari, Sr PI (Nashik Road) Ramdas Shelke, and PI Badesahab Naikawade. The team which took action comprised API Pravin Suryawanshi, police personnel Pawar, Hemant Medhe, Rahul Mehendale, Vijay Temgar, Vishnu Gosavi, Nana Pansare, Dattatraya Vaje, Santosh Pingal, Sagar Adne, Ajay Deshmukh, Ketan Kokate, Kalpesh Jadhav, Gokul Kasar, Rohit Shinde and Yogesh Ranade.
