FIR of rape registered against policeman of Crime Branch, Another policeman, woman and two others charged under various sections of IPC

PUNE: An FIR of rape has been registered against a policeman of the Crime Branch. The FIR also mentions names of four people including another policeman, a woman and two unknown persons who have been charged under various sections of the IPC. A 24-year-old girl has lodged a complaint.

The FIR has been registered against policeman Qadir Kalandar Shaikh and policeman Sameer Patel, two unknown persons and an unknown woman under sections 420, 376, 392,323, 504, 506 and 34 of the IPC and 1989 section 3 (1)(2) of the Atrocities Act. The incident took place opposite Diamond Queen hotel located at Shrinath Complex on BT Kawade Road and Ambedkar Chowk. The incident has taken place since three years to July 1,2023. Since the crime has been captured by the CCTV footage of Lashkar police station, the FIR has been registered at the Mundhwa police station.

The victim belongs to a scheduled caste. However, despite knowing this, the accused Qadir Kalandar Shaikh promised to marry her and had physical relations with her. He promised to marry her at Alandi. However, he avoided going there by giving various excuses.

When the victim asked him about marriage, Qadir Kalandar Shaikh abused her and assaulted her. On June 1, 2023 at 10.30 pm, the accused Qadir Shaikh, Sameer Patel and others assaulted her at Hotel Diamond Queen at Ambedkar Chowk. Qadir Shaikh took away her mobile. ACP Ashwini Rakh of Hadapsar division is probing the case.
