Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar Visits MILIT Pune on Shivaji Maharaj’s Birth Anniversary

Admiral R Hari Kumar, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, ADC, Chief of the Naval Staff, paid a visit to the Military Institute of Technology (MILIT), Girinagar, Pune, on February 19, 2024, commemorating the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The revered Indian warrior’s legacy laid the foundation for the modern Indian Navy.

During his visit, the Chief of Naval Staff interacted with the Directing Staff and student officers at MILIT. Admiral R Hari Kumar addressed the audience on the topic “Maritime Challenges of India and Indian Navy’s Endeavours,” outlining the vision of the Indian Navy as a Net security provider. He emphasized the significance of the Indian Ocean Region, discussed maritime challenges, and underscored the importance of a self-reliant approach and collaborative efforts for ensuring maritime security. The Admiral highlighted recent anti-piracy operations conducted by Indian Navy Warships.

In his address, the CNS stressed the need to redesign and rebuild traditional war-fighting machinery to adapt to emerging paradigms of future wars. He also emphasized the role of techno-warriors in shaping the armed forces in the era of jointness and advocated for the integration of niche technologies in future warfare.

The Chief of Naval Staff took the opportunity to visit newly established labs at MILIT, commending the institute for its role in shaping officers from all three services, including Officers from Friendly Foreign Countries (FFCs), as techno-warriors, future commanders, and staff officers.
