FDA Food Inspector Arrested for Bribery in Bhandara

Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Bhandara has apprehended a food inspector from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for accepting a bribe. The accused, identified as Prashant Rajendra Ramteke, was taken into custody after demanding a bribe of ₹20,000 and ultimately accepting ₹15,000. An FIR has been registered against him at the Bhandara city police station.

The incident unfolded when a complainant submitted an application to FDA, Bhandara, seeking approval to open a medical shop at Kirti Multispeciality Hospital. As the application did not pose any issues, it was set to be approved. However, the food inspector, Prashant Rajendra Ramteke, demanded a bribe of ₹20,000 from the complainant. After negotiation, a compromise was reached, and the inspector agreed to accept ₹15,000 as a bribe.

Prompt action was taken by the ACB, who laid a trap to catch the accused red-handed. With the presence of witnesses, known as panches, the accused accepted the bribe, leading to his arrest.

The operation was conducted by a team led by PI Amit Dahare, PSI Sanjay Kunjarkar, Havaldar Mithun Chandewar, Police Naik Atul Meshram, policeman Chetan Pote, Mayur Shinganjude, Vivek Randive, Rajkumar Lende, Vishnu Warthi, Shilpendra Meshram, and driver Rahul Raut. Their efforts were carried out under the guidance of Nagpur ACB SP Rahul Maknikar and DySP Dr. Arunkumar Lohar.

This arrest highlights the commitment of law enforcement agencies in combating corruption and ensuring accountability among public officials.
