Cyber Thugs Scam Pune Woman with Fake Part-Time Job, Make Off with Rs 5.90 Lakh

Pune: A 32-year-old woman from Warje Malwadi area has been cheated by cyber thugs of Rs 6 lakh. She was lured by a part-time job offer. A woman has lodged a complaint at Warje Malwadi police station and accordingly police are investigating the case.

As per the initial information the woman received a call from an unknown number saying whether she is willing to do a part-time job. When women agreed to the offer she was included in the Telegram group saying that she would get good returns if she completed different tasks. The woman was paid some amount by the cyber thugs initially and she started trusting them.

Police Inspector Kulkarni from Warje Malwadi police station who is investigating the case said, ” The woman was cheated on the name of various tasks like prepaid task, VIP task. The cyber thugs extorted some around Rs 5.90 lakh from her,but she did not receive any profit money. After realising that she has been cheated she lodged a complaint with us. We are further investigating the case.”
