PMPML’s App Launch Postponement: What’s Next for Pune’s Commuters?

Amid high expectations and speculations, the launch of the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) app has faced a delay despite the initial November deadline. The app, designed to revolutionize the passenger experience by introducing UPI-based ticket payments and providing bus information at passengers’ fingertips, is yet to make its debut, leaving commuters eagerly awaiting its arrival.

Sanjay Kolte, Chief of PMPML, addressed the delay, emphasizing that the app’s development is well underway. He assured passengers that the organization is actively working on unveiling the app for public use in the near future. Despite the delay, the commitment to enhancing passenger convenience remains a top priority for PMPML.

In the interim, PMPML has implemented UPI-based ticketing across all buses, receiving positive responses from commuters. This initiative serves as a stepping stone towards the upcoming app, which is anticipated to offer a comprehensive range of features, including real-time bus arrival updates and precise bus locations.

It is noteworthy that since October 2023, PMPML has taken significant strides to promote cashless transactions for passengers. The introduction of a cashless payment facility allows commuters to make payments through QR codes, with UPI options seamlessly integrated by scanning the QR code on the carrier’s e-ticket machine. Importantly, these cashless payment alternatives have been introduced without disrupting the existing operational facilities.

As the PMPML app’s launch lingers, passengers remain hopeful for the promised advancements in their commuting experience, eagerly anticipating the seamless integration of UPI-based services and comprehensive bus information.
