Cracking Down on the Papulya Waghmare Gang: Action Taken Under MCOCA for Reign of Terror

Pune – Police Commissioner Retesh Kumaar has initiated action under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against five individuals involved in an attempted murder case registered at the Warje Malwadi police station. Among the accused is Papulya alias Digvijay Waghmare (19), a resident of Warje Malwadi, who is also known for his involvement in vandalizing vehicles in the area.

The MCOCA action has been taken against Papulya alias Digvijay Tukaram Waghmare, along with Rahul Vitthal Wanjale (24) from Pune, Maroti alias Martya Pandya Tokalwad (19) from Warje, Harshad alias Babya Santosh Wanjavade (19) from Warje Gaothan, and Nandya (wanted accused), as well as a minor.

The recent incident involved Papulya Waghmare and his associates vandalizing several four-wheelers and two-wheelers in lane number seven, opposite the Axis Bank ATM in Karve Nagar. A complaint was filed by Anup Ananta Walunkar (28), a resident of Karve Nagar, leading to the arrest of Papulya alias Digvijay Tukaram Waghmare and five others involved in the act.

Papulya Waghmare has been known for forming a notorious gang that has spread fear in various areas. To establish the dominance of his gang and maintain a reign of terror, he has been involved in a series of criminal activities. Chargesheets have already been submitted in the courts against him and his accomplices.

The Warje Malwadi police, recognizing the gravity of the situation, submitted a proposal to Addl CP Pravinkumar Patil through senior officers, requesting the application of MCOCA against Papulya Waghmare. The proposal was approved, resulting in the action being taken against the notorious Papulya Waghmare gang under MCOCA. ACP Bhimrao Tele is currently leading the ongoing investigation into the matter.
