Pune: Earlier two terrorists were arrested from Kothrud. A businessman who sheltered them and a mechanical engineer who was providing terror funding belong to the banned outfit ‘ISIS’ and ‘AL Sufa’. The accused studied about terrorrist organisations around the world and their terrorrist activities. Investigations by the state Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) have revealed that they have tested whether similar activities can be carried out in India. The Pune court has given the extension of ATS custody to all accused till August 11.
The term of ATS custody of all the four accused who were arrested on charges of having links with terrorists ended on Saturday 5. They were produced in court. Sessions Judge S. V. Kachare has given the extension of ATS custody of the accused till August 11 for further investigation.
Muhammad Imran Muhammad Yusuf Khan (23) and Muhammad Yusuf Muhammad Yakub Saki (24) both the resident of Chetna Garden at Mithanagar in Kondhwa and native of Ratlam in Madhya Pradesh, Abdul Qadir Dastgir Pathan (32) a resident of Kondhwa and Simab Nasruddin Qazi (27) are the names of those who have been remanded in custody.
Abdul Qadir Dastgir Pathan was arrested for providing accomodation in Kondhwa area to the terrorists who were arrested in the two-wheeler theft case. Mechanical engineer Simab Nasruddin Qazi has been arrested for providing financial support to terrorist activities. It has been revealed that Mohammad Khan and Yusuf Saki had tested explosives in the forests of Pune, Kolhapur and Satara. Public prosecutor Vijay Fargade said that he showed this place to ATS during interrogation. Advocate Yashpal Purohit argued on the behalf of the accused.
Contact of terrorists with those arrested by NIA
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested some people in the ISIS Maharashtra module case. The accused and the terrorists were in contact with each other. The terrorists contacted each other by changing identities.
Bomb making and its demonstration were taken along by the accused. Therefore, there is a possibility that some more accused are involved in this crime. Terrorists are adept at using the latest tools beyond their education. Assistant commissioner of police Arun Waikar informed the court that there is a possibility that there is a big system behind the accused.
Purchase of restricted chemicals
Some restricted chemicals and explosives have been procured by terrorists. It is mandatory to provide an identity card while purchasing these items. Terrorists have purchased these items by showing Aadhar cards. ATS said that these items were used to make bombs.
The confiscated maps were submitted to the court
Maps of some places across the country have been seized from the arrested terrorists. One of the maps was submitted to the court by the ATS on Saturday. Some places in these maps are mentioned by terrorists and they have collected information about these places. ATS is further investigating whether there were preparations for an ambush by terrorists at that place.
