Winter around the corner in Pune; Minimum temperature to reduce by two degrees

PUNE: Since the last few days, the increase in the minimum temperature has started reducing. The winter is around the corner and the IMD has predicted that there can be a reduction in the minimum temperature. As a result, the effect of October heat may be reduced and the weather may become slightly chilly.

After the lull in the rainfall, dry weather is prevailing in the city. Since last week, the minimum temperature was increasing in the city. The temperature had increased by more than three per cent than the average. Hence, the minimum temperature was more than 20 degrees centigrade.

Meanwhile, on Monday, the minimum temperature of 18.2 degrees Celsius was recorded. This turned out to be the lowest minimum temperature in October. Till now, in October, temperatures till 19 degrees centigrade have been recorded. However, on most days, the temperature was more than 20 degrees centigrade.

The temperature had increased due to the cloudy weather. On Sunday, the minimum temperature had increased by four degrees. Puneites experienced hot sun and sultry conditions.

According to the information given by IMD, dry weather is expected to prevail in the city and nearby areas for the next week. In the next two days, the minimum temperature is expected to reduce by 1 to 2 degrees centigrade.

The minimum temperature has started reducing in many places in the state. On Monday, the lowest minimum temperature in the state was recorded at Jalgaon (15 degrees centigrade). In Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada, there has been a reduction in the minimum temperature at many places.

After the formation of cyclone Tej in the Arabian Sea, there is a possibility of formation of a cyclone in the Bay of Bengal. A low pressure trough is active in the Bay of Bengal and its intensity is increasing. As a result, on Tuesday, the trough can develop into a cyclone. It is expected to move towards Bangladesh and poses no danger to Maharashtra, IMD officials said.

Tej cyclone does not pose any danger to the western coast of India and its speed is 110 knots. The cyclone is expected to cross the coast of Yemen.

At present, the situation is conducive for formation of five cyclones and two more cyclones are on the verge of formation, said Vinit Kumar of Joint Typhoon Warning Centre.
