Water Woes in Bavdhan as Broken Pipeline Disrupts Supply Amidst Road Digging

Pune, February 10, 2024: The residents of Blue Hills Society in Bavdhan are grappling with a severe water crisis caused by a broken pipeline, a consequence of ongoing road digging work near the society. The situation has not only led to water shortages but also disrupted vehicular traffic, leaving the residents frustrated and questioning the lack of planning and communication from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).

Raju Deshmukh, a resident of Blue Hills Society, expressed his dissatisfaction with the PMC’s handling of the situation. “The PMC has given us so much trouble due to this road digging work. The water pipeline has been broken due to this. Hence, there is no water supply for the society. Vehicular traffic has also been impacted due to this.”

Milind Gawade, another resident, highlighted the negligence during the road digging work. “While doing the work, it is not checked whether anything else like water pipeline etc aren’t damaged. Hence, it is most likely damaged or broken. We have urged the officials to inspect & repair the water pipeline, but that hasn’t happened yet.”

Advocate Arundhati Garad, Secretary of Blue Hills Society, added, “The PMC doesn’t have any planning about the work.” She emphasized how the access in and out of the society had been blocked due to digging on both roads, causing inconveniences to the residents.

Even the temporary measures taken by PMC to address the water pipeline issue proved to be insufficient. Priyanka Bante, Junior Engineer from the PMC Road Department, assured that rectification of damages and digging work is underway and will soon be completed. However, residents remain skeptical about the effectiveness of the measures taken by the authorities.

In the midst of this water supply crisis, the residents continue to face hardships, and the PMC needs to act swiftly to address the situation and prevent further inconvenience to the residents.
