Villagers Express Outrage and Set Mercedes Car on Fire Following Fatal Accident on Daund-Patas Road

Patas, June 24th, 2023: A tragic incident unfolded on the Daund-Patas road near Virobawadi, resulting in the loss of life and a subsequent act of anger from the local villagers. A collision between a car and a two-wheeler claimed the life of the two-wheeler rider, leading to villagers setting the involved Mercedes car on fire as an expression of their outrage and sorrow.

The victim has been identified as Nehal Appasaheb Gawde, a 26-year-old resident of Patas-Virobawadi in the Daund taluka of Pune District. According to preliminary reports, Gawde was returning home on his two-wheeler after seeking blessings from the revered village deity, Shri Biroba Dev. Tragically, the accident occurred when a speeding car collided with Gawde’s two-wheeler while traveling from the Patas direction towards Daund.

As a result of the collision, Gawde suffered severe head injuries and tragically lost his life at the scene of the accident. The driver of the car sustained minor injuries, while one occupant of the Mercedes car also suffered injuries. The devastating loss of life in their community led to an outpouring of collective grief and anger among the villagers, who took the extreme step of setting fire to the Mercedes car involved in the accident. This act of arson served as a poignant expression of their outrage and sorrow at the untimely death of Nehal Appasaheb Gawde.

In response to the incident, traffic on the Ashtavinayak route between Daund and Patas was temporarily halted. The authorities are working to restore normalcy and address the situation.
