Controversy Erupts as Shirur Lok Sabha Candidate Faces Party’s Wrath Over Indapur Encounter

In a surprising turn of events, the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) has revoked the candidature of Mangaldas Bandal for the Shirur Lok Sabha seat, following his recent meeting with Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis.

The unexpected decision came just a day after Bandal’s encounter with Fadnavis during the latter’s visit to Indapur, which falls within the Baramati constituency. Fadnavis, addressing BJP workers during his visit, urged support for the Mahayuti candidate, Sunetra Pawar, further complicating matters for the VBA.

Bandal’s decision to engage with Fadnavis sparked swift action from the VBA, with party spokesperson Farooque Ahmed confirming the cancellation of Bandal’s nomination. According to Ahmed, the decision was made following consultations with party leaders, including president Prakash Ambedkar and state president Rekha Thakur, who deemed Bandal’s actions as contradictory to the party’s stance.

The fallout from Bandal’s rendezvous with Fadnavis extends beyond his individual candidacy, with the VBA announcing its support for the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) candidate, Supriya Sule, in the Baramati constituency.

As political tensions escalate amidst the ongoing election season, Bandal’s dismissal underscores the complexities and rivalries inherent in Maharashtra’s political landscape.
