Vandalism Erupts at Petrol Pump Near PMC HQ in Shivajinagar, 3 Arrested

Pune, India – A startling incident of vandalism occurred on Monday, February 26, at a petrol pump near the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) headquarters in Shivajinagar. The shocking event unfolded when three individuals took matters into their own hands after a heated argument while waiting in a long queue for petrol.

Chandrashekhar Sawant, Police Inspector at Shivajinagar Police Station, provided details about the incident. He stated, “A verbal conversation turned into heated arguments at the petrol pump on Monday night at around 9:30 pm. A person standing in a long queue, waiting to fill petrol in his vehicle, started arguing and quarreling with the petrol pump employee due to the long wait. At around 10 pm, the person returned with his friends, assaulted petrol pump employees, and began vandalizing the premises with bamboo sticks, breaking glass, etc. The petrol pump owner also fell victim to the assault.”

Sawant further revealed that the accused were apprehended approximately one hour after the incident occurred. Among the three arrested, one is a minor.

The case has been registered under Sections 452, 427, and 324 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), covering charges related to trespassing, mischief causing damage, and voluntarily causing hurt. The investigation is ongoing to gather more details about the incident and the motivations behind the vandalism.

Incidents like these highlight the importance of maintaining civility and addressing conflicts through lawful means, rather than resorting to violence and property damage.
