Vaishali Hotel Owner’s Family Dispute: Son-in-law Granted Bail in Pune Court

Hotel Vaishali

In a significant legal development, Vishwajeet Jadhav, the husband of Nikita Shetty and the son-in-law of the renowned Vaishali hotel owner in Pune, has been granted bail by the sessions court. This decision comes in the wake of allegations of cheating and forgery lodged against him.

A Turbulent Legal Battle

The legal battle between Nikita Shetty and her husband, Vishwajeet Jadhav, and in-laws has taken an intense turn. Nikita has accused her husband and extended family of harassment, alleging that they forcefully obtained the hotel’s power of attorney at gunpoint. The gravity of these allegations prompted the Shivaji Nagar police to register a First Information Report (FIR) against four individuals, including Vishwajeet Jadhav (38), Abhijeet (40), Vinayakrao, and Vaishali (60). These individuals represent his brother-in-law, father-in-law, and mother-in-law, respectively.

The FIR outlines disturbing details of Nikita’s ordeal, including her alleged consumption of drugs and liquor, alongside physical and mental torture, following her marriage. She further claimed that she was threatened at gunpoint and that the power of attorney for the hotel was forcibly transferred to Vishwajeet’s name.

Moreover, it was alleged that Vishwajeet sold four cars, registered under the complainant’s company, without her permission. In addition, he reportedly sold her gold jewelry valued at Rs 1.70 crore. These allegations prompted the Shivajinagar police to file an FIR under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 420, 406, 498 (A), 323, 506, and 34.

The Legal Defense

During the court proceedings, Vishwajeet Jadhav was represented by Advocate Pushkar Durge. Durge presented a strong defense, highlighting that Jadhav and his brother were national-level shooting players with expertise in ballistic science. He argued that no evidence was found regarding firing, and the alleged incident occurred on December 6, 2022, while the house search panchanama was conducted several months later.

In response to the allegations of threat, the defense lawyer submitted Google Time Line data, suggesting that none of the accused were present at the Ghole Road house on the relevant day and at the relevant time where the incident supposedly took place. In light of the documentary evidence presented, Additional Sessions Judge V. A. Patravale granted bail to Vishwajeet Jadhav. The judge determined that there were substantial grounds to counter each allegation, and custodial detention was not deemed necessary in these circumstances.
