Unlawful Structures Under Fire: PMC Escalates Battle Against Illegal Constructions in Pune

In a decisive move to address the issue of unauthorized constructions, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has taken stringent action against the developers of 11 illegal structures in Ambegaon Budruk. The PMC has formally filed a complaint with the Bharati Vidyapeeth Police, urging the police to initiate an FIR against the developers involved.

PMC’s Legal Pursuit:

Vinayak Gaikwad, Police Inspector at Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station, revealed, “The PMC, in its commitment to removing unauthorized structures, demolished 11 illegal buildings in Ambegaon Budruk. Notices were duly issued to the concerned developers. Subsequently, the PMC has lodged a complaint with us, urging an investigation into the developers’ whereabouts and the filing of an FIR against them.”

He added that despite the issuance of notices to the developers, none of them appeared to accept the notice. Currently, efforts are underway to gather information about the developers, as these demolished structures were registered under various firms. However, the identities of the firm owners remain unknown. Detailed information about the developers and the entire demolition incident is being compiled, and an FIR is expected to be filed within the next 2 to 3 days.

Previous Actions in January 2024:

In the initial stages of January 2024, the PMC took action against unauthorized constructions in survey no 43, survey no 25, and survey no 10 in Ambegaon Budruk. This operation resulted in the clearance of approximately 47,664 square feet of land.

The PMC’s proactive stance against illegal constructions reflects its commitment to maintaining urban planning regulations and ensuring the safety and integrity of structures within the city.
