Unity in Diversity: IT Dindi’s Role in Pune’s Spiritual Journey

In a unique convergence of technology professionals and traditional warkaris, Pune is set to witness the IT dindi joining the wari procession from Alandi to Bhawani Peth on Sunday morning. This initiative, spearheaded by a troupe of over 1,700 IT employees, marks a significant blend of modern-day work culture with age-old spiritual traditions.

Growing Participation and Community Spirit

Lalkar Chhadwelkar, a resident of Aundh and a software company employee, expressed enthusiasm about the increased participation this year. He noted, “Given that it’s a Sunday, our group has nearly doubled in size compared to last year. Safety, especially for our large contingent of women participants, is our top priority.” To ensure convenience, the IT dindi has organized multiple pick-up points across Pune, facilitating easy transport to Alandi for the auspicious darshan of the palkhi.

Logistics and Planning

A robust logistical framework has been put in place, with 45 buses arranged to ferry participants from various city locations like Baner, Aundh, Wakad, Peth areas, Kalyaninagar, Katraj, and Kothrud starting from 3:30 am on Sunday. After paying homage to the palkhi, the IT dindi will regroup at Jungali Maharaj Mandir on JM Road, culminating their journey amidst chants and camaraderie.

Family Involvement and Cultural Legacy

Beyond professional engagement, many tech professionals are involving their families in this annual tradition. Deepti Deshpande, an IT consultant-turned-homemaker and a seasoned participant, shared her sentiment: “Participating in the wari is not just about personal spirituality but also about passing down traditions and values to the next generation. It fosters a strong sense of community and belonging.”
