Unexpected Showers Dampen Pune’s Spirits: Weather Update and Caution for Residents

In an untimely turn of events, unseasonal rains have made an appearance in several parts of Pune, casting a literal dampener on the festive spirit. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Pune has provided crucial updates, warning residents about potential thunderstorms, lightning, and light to moderate spells of rain with gusty winds in specific districts.

As of the latest forecast, for 11th November (Saturday), Pune may experience partly cloudy skies, offering a brief respite. However, the outlook improves from 12th to 16th November, with the likelihood of clearer skies in the days ahead.

IMD Mumbai, in collaboration with Pune, has issued a warning regarding the thunderstorm, lightning, and rain with gusty winds, expected to hit isolated places in Pune, Raigad, Thane, Nasik, Ahmednagar, and Satara in the next 3-4 hours from the time of the alert. Residents are urged to take precautions while venturing outdoors.

According to Dr. Anupam Kashyapi, Head of the Weather Forecast Division at IMD Pune, a southeast wind is carrying moisture over south-central Maharashtra, resulting in isolated thunder and light rain in specific regions such as Goa, Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri, Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli, and Solapur. Pune city and district may also experience very light rain, with a significant reduction in rainfall expected from tomorrow onwards. Night temperatures are anticipated to drop starting from the 11th.

As per the weather predictions, rain has started to pour Pune city with several parts of Pune such as Bibvewadi, Sahakarnagar, Katraj, Dhayari, Kothrud, Ambegaon Pathar & many more witnessing rainfall on 10th November.
