UBS Champions Literacy: 600 Employees Run Marathon to Support Children’s Reading Habits

Pune: In a remarkable display of corporate social responsibility, UBS, a leading global financial services firm, rallied over 600 of its employees in a marathon held in Pune on Sunday, 25 February 2024. Collaborating with RunOn and Secure Giving, the event aimed to raise funds and awareness to nurture education and reading habits among children.

The marathon, encompassing categories such as a 21-km half marathon, a 10-km run, and a 5-km run, saw an official flag-off by UBS leaders Puneet Vyas, Anubhav Agarwal, Jeevan Dalvi, and Sharmeen Kutky. In an opening speech, UBS underscored its unwavering commitment to social responsibility initiatives, with a primary focus on education and literacy for children.

Funds collected through the marathon will be directed towards United Way Mumbai’s ‘Let’s READ’ campaign. This initiative aims to instill a love for reading by providing underprivileged children with access to reading materials. The raised funds will enable the distribution of reading kits, including four books, a journal, a pen, and a bag, to 1,000 children across Maharashtra.

For UBS employees, participating in such initiatives not only demonstrates unity but also serves as a profound source of inspiration. The marathon marks another stride in UBS’s ongoing mission to generate positive social impact, particularly in the realm of education.
