Tragic Incident in Lonavala: Two Mumbai Tourists Drown in Mine Water, One Survivor

Lonavla, a popular tourist destination near Pune, witnessed a heartbreaking incident as two tourists from Mumbai lost their lives after drowning in the mine water in Varsoli village. The victims, identified as Priyank Panchand Vora (35 years old) from Powai, Mumbai, and Vijay Subhash Yadav (35 years old) from Ghatkopar, Mumbai, had visited Lonavala for a day trip with their friends.

On Saturday, July 8, Priyank, Vijay, and their friends arrived in Varsoli village, which is known for its mine containing water. Around 7 PM, the group decided to enter the mine water. However, tragedy struck when their footing slipped on a stone, leading to the tragic drowning of Priyank, Vijay, and their friend Genia Viagas.

Their friends, who were present at the scene, immediately raised an alarm as they witnessed the drowning incident unfold. Local villagers rushed to the spot and managed to rescue the three individuals from the water. However, despite their efforts, it was too late to save Priyank and Vijay.

Medical examinations confirmed that Priyank and Vijay had succumbed to drowning caused by water entering their nostrils. The Lonavala police have registered a case of accidental death in connection with this tragic incident. Police Naik Kishore Pawar is currently investigating the case under the guidance of Police Inspector Kishore Dhumal.
