Tragedy Unfolds in Pune: Woman Takes Own Life Amid Alleged In-Law Harassment

A distressing case in Pune district has come to light, where a woman was reportedly subjected to harassment by her in-laws, including her doctor husband, allegedly over demands for money from her parents. Tragically, the relentless pressure and mistreatment pushed the woman to the point of taking her own life. The Pimpri Chinchwad Police have registered a case in connection with these grave allegations.

A Painful Ordeal: The harrowing saga unfolded within a doctor’s family residing in Pune district. The accused in this case, the victim’s in-laws and her husband, allegedly harassed her incessantly, pressuring her to procure money from her parents. When the victim was unable to meet these demands, she was reportedly subjected to degrading treatment. One such distressing incident involved the victim being forced to rub her nose on the ground.

Tragic End: The distress inflicted upon the woman reached a tragic culmination when she was allegedly asked to leave her marital home by her in-laws. Unable to bear the anguish and suffering, the victim, in a devastating turn of events, took her own life. The police have taken cognizance of the case, and a complaint has been filed by the victim’s brother at the Dighi Police Station.

Seeking Justice: The complaint, lodged by the victim’s brother, alleges that the in-laws of his sister had demanded money, ostensibly to build a hospital, from their parents. When the victim refused to comply with these demands, the situation reportedly escalated into a cycle of harassment, including the reprehensible act of forcing her to rub her nose on the ground. These alleged incidents transpired between 2012 and 2023, painting a picture of prolonged suffering.

Legal Action Taken: The accused in this tragic case include the victim’s husband, identified as Abhijeet Ashok Shinde (40), who is a doctor, and her father-in-law, Ashok Baburao Shinde (67), who is also a medical professional. Additionally, the victim’s mother-in-law and sister-in-law have also been named in the FIR. The police have registered the case under sections 498 (a), 306, 323, 504, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and are actively investigating the matter to unearth the truth.

This heart-wrenching case sheds light on the urgent need for safeguarding the well-being and rights of individuals within marital relationships. The investigation aims to bring justice to the victim and hold those responsible for her suffering accountable.
