Tragedy Strikes Rajgad Fort: Tourist’s Unfortunate Drowning Incident in Padmavati Water Tank

A leisurely trekking excursion took a tragic turn as a tourist lost his life in a drowning incident at the Padmavati water tank on Rajgad Fort. The heart-wrenching incident unfolded in the early hours of Tuesday, the 15th of August, during a group outing of friends seeking adventure on the fort.

The incident occurred at Rajgad Fort, situated in the Velhe taluka of Pune district. The victim has been identified as Ajay Mohanan Kallampara, a 33-year-old resident of Bhiwandi, Thane, and an employee of Tata Consumer Products Limited Company.

Accompanied by three friends, Ajay embarked on an exploration of Rajgad Fort, anticipating a day of trekking and companionship. Tragically, fate took a dark turn when Ajay, in an attempt to fetch water from the Padmavati water tank on the fort’s premises, lost his balance and slipped into the tank. Despite his best efforts, he was unable to swim to safety, leading to his untimely drowning in the tank. After a significant period of time, his lifeless body was eventually recovered from the water tank.

This distressing incident serves as a poignant reminder of the paramount importance of caution and safety during recreational activities. It underscores the necessity of heightened awareness and preparedness, even in seemingly innocuous surroundings. The unforeseen turn of events has cast a shadow over what should have been a day of relaxation and enjoyment, highlighting the potential hazards that can unexpectedly arise during outdoor pursuits.
