Traffic Alert: Two-Hour Block on Mumbai-Pune Expressway Today, Plan Your Journey Accordingly

Commuters on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway should brace for a two-hour traffic block today, December 5th, in the Khandala area. The block is scheduled to take place between 12 noon and 2 PM as part of the ongoing Gantry installation work undertaken by expressway authorities.

According to reports, similar traffic blocks will be implemented every Tuesday and Thursday until December 21, 2023. The Gantry installation work is specifically focused on km 50/000 and km 47/120 in the Khandala area as part of the Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) project.

During the block hours, all traffic on the Mumbai channel will come to a complete halt. Heavy vehicles will be stopped at the Urse Toll Gate, and only cars will be allowed to continue from km 55 Lonavala exit towards Mumbai side via the Old Pune Mumbai Highway – Anda Point.

Given that it’s the second day of the week, a significant volume of vehicles is expected on the expressway. Passengers heading to Mumbai are advised to plan their journey accordingly, considering the two-hour block.

The ongoing Gantry installation work has led to intermittent traffic blocks in recent days, causing inconvenience to passengers and citizens. The block is anticipated to result in congestion during the afternoon, emphasizing the importance of planning ahead for those traveling from Pune to Mumbai.

For a smoother journey, commuters are encouraged to leave early in the morning and consider taking alternative routes towards Mumbai before the scheduled block begins.
