Toll Fee Hike Deferred: Pune-Satara and Pune-Nashik Highways Spared Amidst EC Directive

NHAI Halts Toll Increase at Khed-Shivapur, Chalkewadi, and Hivargaon Booths Until End of Election Code

In response to the directive issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI), the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced the postponement of toll fee hikes at key checkpoints along the Pune-Satara and Pune-Nashik highways. Effective immediately, toll rates at the Khed-Shivapur toll booth will revert to the previous rate of ₹115 for light vehicles, while the toll at Chalkewadi and Hivargaon booths will stand at ₹105.

Aniket Yadav, deputy manager at the Khed-Shivapur toll plaza, confirmed the implementation of the NHAI’s decision, stating, “We received communication from the NHAI in the evening, and as per the directive, we will revert to charging the old toll rates from midnight onwards.”

The deferment of toll fee hikes comes in the wake of ongoing elections, with the ECI issuing directives to ensure fairness and equitable treatment of citizens during the electoral process. By heeding the commission’s mandate, the NHAI aims to mitigate financial burdens on commuters traversing these highways, particularly during this sensitive period.
