Tata Motors Chinchwad Leads Efforts to Enhance Industrial Safety, Aims to Minimize Accidents

In response to the rising concerns surrounding industrial accidents and unfortunate fatalities among workers, Tata Motors Chinchwad hosted a crucial meeting on February 22, 2024, under the chairmanship of Devidas Gore, Director of Industrial Safety and Health, Government of Maharashtra. The meeting aimed to address the increasing incidents and take effective measures to prevent accidents within factories.

Dilip Batwal, Secretary of the Federation of Chakan Industries, shared further details, noting the attendance of key stakeholders, including the Additional Director of Industrial Safety and Sanitation Odule, Deputy Director Dish Sanjay Giri, Deputy Director Akhilesh Ghogre, Thackeray, Nikole, and Rakesh Pandey, DGM (Safety) of Tata Company. Representatives from 80 companies in Pimpri Chinchwad, Sanaswadi, Ranjangaon, Talegaon, Kurkumbh, and others were also present, making it a collaborative effort.

During the meeting, Devidas Gore emphasized the importance of providing industrial safety equipment to workers, reducing industrial accidents. He stressed the need for fire-fighting arrangements in factories as per Section 71-B of the Factories Act and urged concerned authorities to ensure insurance coverage for workers. For factories with more than 30 women workers, he suggested the establishment of nurseries and the preparation of disaster management plans for those categorized as hazardous.

Odule, Additional Director of Industrial Safety and Industrial Directorate, highlighted the need for every company to prioritize effective safety measures, provide insurance coverage, implement welfare schemes, and conduct regular safety training programs for workers.

Dilip Batwal, Secretary of the Federation of Chakan Industry, underscored the responsibility of security chiefs in ensuring workers’ safety. He emphasized the importance of workers adhering to safety rules and using safety gear such as helmets, hand gloves, masks, glasses, safety shoes, and jackets to significantly reduce accidents.

The meeting also featured the presentation of a safety song written by Devidas Gore and a safety song composed in English, emphasizing the importance of safety. The gathering concluded with a tea session, symbolizing a collaborative effort towards enhanced industrial safety.
