In a joyous celebration of valor, tradition, and communal harmony, the residents of Suyog Nisarg Co-Operative Housing Society in Wagholi gathered to commemorate the revered Shree Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti on February 19th.
The day commenced with inspirational songs recounting the valorous deeds of Shivaji Maharaj, followed by the recital of “पाळणा” for बाल शिवराय, resonating through the air and evoking the spirit of the legendary warrior king. The atmosphere was charged with reverence as the idol of Shree Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was consecrated amidst hymns and mantras, symbolizing devotion and admiration for the great leader.
Palakhi procession, cultural events, and Dhol-Tasha performances added vibrancy to the festivities. Residents showcased their reverence through performances of “powada” and hymns, accompanied by a majestic palakhi procession of the Shree Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj idol, resonating with the rhythmic beats of Dhol-Tasha.
The Sahyadri Mardani Dandpatta Pratishthan from Karad presented traditional martial arts of Maharashtra, known as “मर्दानी खेळ,” highlighting Shivaji Maharaj’s valor and martial prowess. The evening featured an enlightening open-theater screening of a documentary, educating attendees about the life and enduring legacy of Shree Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
Committee members distributed bags of compost generated by composting garden waste within the society premises, symbolizing gratitude to residents for the successful culmination of the 10th year of celebrating Shree Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti at Suyog Nisarg.
As the festivities concluded, residents and participants enjoyed a traditional dinner served on banana leaves, symbolizing communal harmony and shared heritage.
The event showcased the enduring legacy of a great leader, the preservation of cultural traditions, and the commitment to sustainable practices within the Suyog Nisarg community.
